What Is a Drive Your Dream Tour?

At every stop along the way the cars drew a crowd. People just had to get close to these beauties. And everyone wanted to know, "What's it like to drive them?"

Winding our way through 200+ miles of some of North Texas' most scenic back roads, we had ample time to put each car through its paces. It was astounding how each accelerated, took the turns and held the road.

Hats off to our tour leader. He gave us a variety of conditions - straight, flat, winding and hilly -- and, sometimes, challenging roads which really tested our driving skills. But these dream cars handle so well that even a driver as inexperienced with exotic cars as I am felt safe and comfortable throughout.

Stopping for lunch in Granbury was a hoot. As we pulled in to the historic square to park side by side, we were immediately surrounded by dozens of people. Cameras clicked and the questions came. But the highlight was enjoying a great lunch and sharing impressions of the morning.

By the end of the day we had each driven the five cars. And we each had our favorite. One gal loved the Bentley. Her husband was an Aston Martin fan. Another couple drove the BMW M6 back to home base. Mine? I started and ended in the Ferrari. It's a superb automobile and exhilarating to drive.

Today I'm back in my everyday sedan, but the memories of the day I drove icons of the automotive world stick with me. It truly was a dream day.
